No matter how hard you try to maintain cleanliness, baby mats are bound to get dirty - as many parents will attest.
Homecare expert and author Lynsey Crombie, affectionately known by her fans as Lynsey Queen of Clean, has come to the rescue with some essential advice for reviving your well-used mat.
One mum sought Lynsey's help for restoring her toddler's mat, which had turned a 'horrible colour', back to its original shine. Despite our best efforts, these items are prone to getting stained, but Lynsey had the perfect solution.
Lynsey suggested: "Nail polish remover or hydrogen peroxide. Tiny bit of nail polish remover and obviously rinse it before putting baby back on it!" In the same Q&A session at the Wilko House of Hacks event, another attendee was struggling with stubborn permanent marker stains on her glossy banister.
Lynsey's recommendation was clear: "Have you tried toothpaste on that one? Try that one, and if that doesn't work, try nail polish remover as well. Try both of those, and if they don't work, message me and I'll help you."
"But remember, with the toothpaste, try and leave it overnight. So don't just put it on and expect a miracle within ten minutes. For permanent marker, I'd leave it on as long as you can. Really rub it in as well and then have a look in the morning."
