On Wednesday afternoon, Escape to the Country fans joined Alice and Dave in their quest for the ideal Gloucestershire home, aiming to be closer to family after becoming grandparents.
The pair were eager to uproot their lives in Hampshire, with Alice also gearing up to bid farewell to her role as a vicar.
Clarifying the impetus for their relocation on BBC, Alice explained: "It's custom when you stop leading a church that you move out of the area to give the new person a space to create their own vision, so I'm ready to go."
Armed with a hefty budget of £650,000, they sought a two-bedroom home complete with garage and a garden for their dogs.
The house-hunting kicked off in Eastcombe where presenter Sonali Shah unveiled an initial offering that left Dave nearly at a loss for words, professing he was almost "speechless".
The second residence, situated in Randwick, resonated with Alice particularly due to its locale, reports Gloucestershire Live.
In contrast, Dave wasn't as taken, stating bluntly: "I don't particularly like the front door, to be honest, I would probably want to change that if I moved here."
BBC's host gave them the reins to venture upstairs independently to fully assess the home. It didn't take long before Alice caught sight of something she couldn't ignore.
She told her partner: "One of the things I've already clocked about this house is there's no downstairs loo. If you've got visitors to a house, you don't want them all traipsing upstairs to use the loo."
Dave agreed with a remark: "No, that is a problem."
Sonali, who was downstairs, seemed to catch wind of their concerns and shared with viewers: "They've noticed the lack of a downstairs loo, which I understand is a deal breaker for many. The thing is, they do have some space to build one out there, are they up for that challenge?"
Meanwhile, outside in the garden, they contemplated the significant upkeep it required, along with fencing issues for their dogs.
Alice opened up to the BBC presenter, commenting: "The initial impression of the house is, 'Oh wow! ' It's a big Cotswold stone, symmetrical house. But, it's got things that I don't want to take on. The garden being one of them."
Echoing her sentiments, Dave added: "The fact there's not a downstairs toilet."
When the episode wrapped up, they had decided that none of the featured homes fit the bill and they planned to keep looking. Wrapping up the show, Sonali narrated that just hours after filming ended, the couple placed an offer on a quaint thatched cottage they'd seen before.
Escape to the Country continues weekdays on BBC One from 3pm.
