Getting your nails done is one of the little luxuries in life - and one man doesn't hold back when it comes to forking out on his.
While a manicure can get pretty expensive, 25-year-old Ryan says his five-inch nails cost more than most people's rent, as he forks out £700 per visit.
Ryan, from New York, loves his long talons, accessorised with gems, 3D patterns and glitter. The social media influencer happily spends the money on making them as extravagant as he can and has been doing so for the past five years. Even though he's spending £33,000 a year on his themed nails, he has no plans to stop.
"In one year, I would spend $43,000 (£33,750) on nails. I have been doing them for four and a half years and I love it," he told Truly. In a clip posted to their TikTok, Ryan has amassed 4.9 million views, with thousands of people sharing their comments. He added: "My nails are probably between four and five inches. This is as long as they go and I wouldn't dare go any longer."
Ryan has left many people stunned over his pricey nails, as he beamed to the camera and held his latest talons up and said "these nails cost me $1000 (£700)." However there is just one question on everyone's minds as one person commented: "What you do for work to pay for them please let me know," and another asked: "OK, how is it that this is affordable for you and you must work so what do you do to make this affordable at 25? Just curious."
Ryan regularly shares videos on his Instagram and TikTok of his day-to-day life and often chats about how he manages to cope with every day tasks with such long nails. He will always post when he is getting a new set done, with his chosen nail salon being a New York spot in The Bronx called @muneca_beauty_nails. The artist is best known for curating looks for fashion designer Marc Jacobs who is a regular customer.
While some people say Ryan's nails are too much, others are quick to defend him, as one TikToker said: "If homeboy pays his bills, let him have his fancy nails," and another chimed: "His nail tech also does THE Marc Jacob's nails (if you're wondering why it's so high)."
