A woman has been left cringing with embarrassment after her precious pooch ate her friend's engagement ring.
Sharing a photo of her dog's X-ray on social media, she shamed her greedy pet, named Roger, for not only eating the pricey ring but also half of a TV remote.
Taking to Reddit, she said: "Ring has been recovered. Dog is fine." While the dog is perfectly OK and is acting as if nothing happened, she says her friend has been "traumatised forever" following the incident. As expected, the woman was given no other option but to water down her dog's mess every day in search of the ring until it finally appeared in a pile one day.
Following this, she gave it a good clean down before returning it to her friend - and awkwardly congratulating her on her engagement. She added: "The worst part was sorting through every poo the dog had for the next three days."
As for the TV remote, the woman says the vets also waited for this to come out 'naturally', claiming there wasn't much point in 'recovering' it with surgery. Commenting on her post, one user said: "If the dog walks by the TV and all of a sudden the channel changes... well, you know why."
Another user added: "One way to find a diamond in the ruff." A third user said: "My dog ate a roll of quarters. It required surgery. It was the most expensive roll of quarters I ever got. One more user added: "They'll always remember what that ring has been through..."
It comes after another naughty dog, named Finn, taught his owner a lesson by eating her wedding ring while she was in the midst of an important Zoom call.
Owner Shyler Brianne Kraus said: "Usually my working from home consists of him still getting whatever attention he wants but since this was such an important meeting, I wasn’t doting on him like I normally would.
"Halfway through the meeting I could hear him playing with something metallic because I could hear the little ting sounds from his teeth and nails. "I’m not sure how I knew but in the moment I just knew it was my wedding ring."
After an unsuccessful search for her wedding ring, she ended up rushing Finn to the vets to get an X-ray. Despite being fed a "bunch of high-fibre food" at the vets, Finn did not make any 'offerings', and Shyler was told to go home and examine his poo until her ring shows up.
She ended up "mushing up" her dog's waste for three and a half days straight - and it wasn't until 15 minutes before he was set to undergo a surgery to remove the ring that it showed up.
"I left my wedding ring on my bedside table, a mistake I no longer make, and he was able to hop up onto my bed and snatch it. Kind of a 'I'll show her! She can’t work when I want to play'," she added. "He did what any rational-thinking puppy would do - eat the most valuable item in my possession in order to teach me a lesson."
